The agreement which gives further effect to the Memorandum of Understanding from 2002 between CEPT and the RCC, will strengthen collaboration between both organisations in areas of mutual interest and on ITU activities as a whole.  The organisations will share information and best practice in an effort to enhance the development of electronic communications and ICT in both regions.

Commenting on the agreement, Mr. Marcin Krasuski, Chairman of CEPT's Com-ITU, said: "Enhanced cooperation with the RCC will positively contribute to exchanges of best practice and increased mutual understanding of the complex world of telecommunications and ICT. I am also confident that it will help us to conduct discussions and increase coherence of regional positions presented at the ITU more effectively."

Collaboration between the two organisations is envisaged from 2015-2018 and encompasses the following International Telecommunication Union conferences: World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA), 2016; World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC), 2018; and Plenipotentiary Conference (PP), 2018.

The cooperation agreement was signed on 21st October 2014 at the 19th Plenipotentiary Conference of the ITU in Busan, Republic of Korea, by Mr. Marcin Krasuski (Poland), Chairman of CEPT's Com-ITU, and Mr. Nurudin Mukhitdinov, Director General of the RCC Executive Committee.
