The 6th World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 30 March to 10 April 2014. The theme for WTDC-14 was “Broadband for Sustainable Development” and it was chaired by Mr Mohammed Al Ghanim, Director-General of the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority, United Arab Emirates.
WTDC-14 was attended by 1,313 delegates from 137 Member States, including 31 CEPT Member States, 82 Sector Members and other entities, including 40 media representatives.
In preparation for WTDC-14, CEPT held several co-ordination meetings before and three coordination meetings during the Conference. The CEPT delegates used the ECO’s “CEPT messaging system” for coordination purposes.
During its preparatory process CEPT agreed to 11 European Common Proposals (ECPs). All of the CEPT proposals were accepted by WTDC-14, some with amendments. For further details please consult the Com-ITU chairman’s report from the conference.
