Overview of the last meeting

09 May 2011, 16:21

FM47 met in ECO, Copenhagen, 27-28 April. This is expected to be the last meeting of FM47. The follow up of UWB activities will be ensured by SRD-MG in the framework of WG FM. The following results were achieved.

Location Tracking Application for Emergency Services (LAES) in disaster situations

A recommendation was developed based on the results of compatibility studies developed by SE24. The drat Recommendation will be presented to the next WG FM meeting for adoption to Public Consultation.

Location tracking applications type 2 (LT2) operating in the frequency bands 3.4 – 4.8 GHz and 6 – 8.5 GHz for person and object tracking and industrial applications

FM47 considered the outcome of the public consultation on draft ECC Report 167 on practical implementation of registration/coordination mechanism for LT2 systems. Replies to the comments will be provided to the next WG FM meeting. Based on this, FM47 approved a draft ECC Recommendation on LT2 to be sent to WG FM for adoption for Public Consultation.

Location tracking and sensor applications for automotive and transportation environments (LTA) operating in the frequency bands from 3.1 – 4.8 GHz and 6 – 8.5 GHz

It is proposed to amend the generic Decision in order to reflect the output of the compatibility studies.

Generic UWB regulation

FM47 proposed to introduce in the revised ECC Decision (06)04 an exterior limit defined, for each UWB device installed in a road or rail vehicle, as the maximum mean e.i.r.p spectral density for the emissions outside the vehicle at elevation angles higher than 0 degree. Within the bands 3.1 – 4.8 GHz, 6 – 8.5 GHz and 8.5 – 9 GHz, an exterior limit of -53.3 dBm/MHz applies in the proposal developed by FM47. Additional modifications were proposed. The draft revised ECC Decision will be presented at the next WG FM meeting.
