WRC-15 confirms primary mobile allocation in 700 MHz

23 Nov 2015, 18:43

On the third Friday of WRC-15, the conference completed its work on the frequency band 694-790 MHz. WRC-15 confirmed the primary mobile, except aeronautical mobile, allocation in this band in Region 1 with provisions for compatibility with ARNS.

A Resolution was also agreed to address compatibility with broadcasting and aeronautical radionavigation services and to highlight the ongoing need for studies on applications ancillary to broadcasting and programme-making. The outcome is aligned with CEPT objectives for this agenda item: there are no new technical or regulatory conditions in respect of compatibility with broadcasting. For compatibility with ARNS, bilateral agreements were signed between countries during the early stages of WRC-15, and these enabled CEPT to work towards common objectives with RCC.

CEPT underlined the necessity of pursuing studies on the availability of frequency bands for applications ancillary to broadcasting and programme-making as outlined in Resolution ITU-R 59 and called upon Administrations to support initiatives.
