European Commission points to guidance provided by WG NaN/PT ES to improve caller location information for emergency calls

In a press release on the occasion of 112 day, which took place this year on 11 February, the European Commission reviewed the actions taken in 2014 to improve 112 implementations throughout the EU, concluding that there is still room for improvement in locating emergency callers.

WG NaN workshop on Extra-territorial Use of E.164 numbers concludes in Brussels today.

The WG NaN today held a workshop in Brussels themed on the Extra-territorial Use of E.164 numbers. The workshop brought together a broad range of stakeholders interested in this subject to share views and provide insights on how the needs of emerging services, particularly M2M, can be facilitated in what is becoming a global market place.

WG NaN, at its 5th meeting in Stockholm on 21-22 November 2012, elected Mr. Daniel Voisard (SUI) and Mr. Virgilijus Stundzia (LTU) respectively as chairman and vice-chairman of PT TRIS. At that time, it was agreed that the chairman and vice-chairman would exchange positions after two years.

WG NaN to hold public workshop on Extra-territorial Use of E.164 Numbers

The CEPT/ECC Working Group Numbering and Networks (WG NaN) is hosting a public workshop on "Extra-territorial Use of E.164 numbers" on 27 January 2015 at the kind invitation of BIPT in Brussels. The purpose of the work is to discuss the benefits and challenges of extra-territorial use with key stakeholder groups to inform a follow-on deliverable from ECC Report 194.


The next meeting of WG NaN will take place at ETSI HQ, Sophia Antipolis, France on 22-23 April 2015
