ECO presentation at Number Portability Global Summit 2013

Number Portability has been a key competition enable since market liberalisation. Service providers are increasingly offering their services as part of a bundle. e.g. Triple-Play, Quad-Play. These products are popular with consumers as there is often value and convenience in buying a bundle of services. The bundling strategy is also popular with service providers as customer churn is lower.

Does bundling introduce regulatory challenges in the context of competition and consumer protection? Does bundling of services have implications for efficient numbering plan management as the traditional distinction between geographic and mobile numbers is eroded and it becomes possible to port numbers between two different service domains? 

The ECO presented its views on the subject at the Number Portability Global Summit 2013. The event was held from 30 September to 02 October in London. The ECO presentation is available at:
