29 Jul 2022, 17:34

SE40, chaired by Jesús Arnau (OFCOM, UK), held its 77th meeting in Biel, Switzerland (hybrid meeting) from 25-28 July with 36 registered participants from 11 Administrations, ECO and other organisations (industry/operators). The main outcomes of the meeting are summarised below.

  • Compatibility between RNSS and amateur service in the 1240-1300

The meeting produced a revised draft version of the ECC report taking into account 2 input contributions. A liaison statement updating CPG PTC was also agreed.

  • Aggregate interference from satellite systems into RAS

SE40 continued to work on the report based on three inputs. The meeting noted the outcome of the dedicated correspondence group. Further update of the draft ECC Report was agreed based on these contributions.

  • Iridium measurements

SE40 successfully concluded the draft ECC Report on “Unwanted emissions of Iridium NEXT satellites in the band 1610.6-1613.8 MHz, monitoring campaign of Nov. 2020 to May 2021” to be submitted to WGSE for adoption for public consultation. The meeting also received information from Iridium that it has implemented improvements to the operational set-up to further reduce satellite out-of-band emissions noting that further measurements can now be carried out to consider the reconfigured constellation. The German administration confirmed their plans to carry out the new measurement campaign of Iridium out-of-band emissions very soon.
